2017 Value Adjustment Board

Walton County Value Adjustment Board seeks special magistrates pursuant to §194.035(1), Fla. Stat. to hear appeals of the valuation of real estate and tangible personal property.

The Value Adjustment Board of Walton County, Florida, invites all interested parties to submit Letters of Interest to serve as a Special Magistrate for the 2017 Value Adjustment Board.

No applicant may be an appointed or elected official or an employee of Walton County, Florida.

A Special Magistrate appointed to hear issues regarding the valuation of real estate shall be a state certified real estate appraiser with not less than 5 years of experience in real property valuation.

A Special Magistrate appointed to hear issues regarding the valuation of tangible personal property shall be a designated member of a nationally recognized appraiser’s organization with not less than 5 years of experience in tangible personal property valuation.

Special Magistrates need not be a resident of Walton County, Florida. Special Magistrates may not represent a taxpayer before the Board in any tax year during which he or she serves as a Special Magistrate.

Rate of pay shall be determined by the Value Adjustment Board. Applicants are asked to submit their proposed hourly rate with the Letter of Interest.

All interested parties shall submit their Letter of Interest with all qualifying documents to this office no later than Friday, June 9, 2017 at 4:00 p.m.  Please make sure all qualifications, supporting documents, and work experience is documented in your Letter of Interest.  Letters of interest received after the deadline will not be eligible. Request for Bids

The City of DeFuniak Springs will be accepting sealed bids for a contractor to provide materials, labor and equipment necessary to complete connections of one (1) existing By-Pass Pump Sewage Lift Station located at 16th Street and Orange Avenue in DeFuniak Springs. All disturbed areas shall be returned to existing condition or better. Contractor is responsible for maintenance of traffic, safety, environmental issues (spills, reporting, and clean up) and any temporary bypass pumping required to complete the work. Piping must be HDPE.  All work must be inspected by authorized City personnel or their designee.  The City has received grant funds from the State of Florida, Division of Emergency Management to accomplish this project.

A mandatory Pre-Bid meeting will be held between Contractor and City personnel and/or their designee on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 10:00 AM, to discuss procedures of the job prior to bid proposal submission.  This meeting will begin at the Public Works building conference room, located at 45 North Park Street and then commence to lift station 3 located at 16th Street & Orange Avenue. Contracted work will be required to meet all standards of this grant, comply with and submit according to all contract requirements of the grant applicable to this project.  As such, the contractor and its trade subcontractors shall comply with the wage and reporting requirements imposed by the grant.  Additionally, sub-contacts must follow all requirements in the grant agreement set forth by the State of Florida, Division of Emergency Management.

Bids will be accepted at City Hall located at 71 U.S. Hwy. 90 West, P.O. Box 685, DeFuniak Springs, FL 32433 until 2:00 p.m. CST Thursday, May 25, 2017.   Bids will be opened in the City Hall Council Chambers located at 71 U.S. Hwy 90 West, DeFuniak Springs, FL at the above time and date.  Bids shall be clearly marked on the outside of the envelope, “Sealed Bid – Permanent By-Pass Pump Connection.”  Any bids received after 2:00 p.m. CST on the above date will not be accepted and will be returned unopened to the bidder.
