UPDATE: MISSING KAYAKER LOCATED NEAR HOGANS LOOP

Walton County, Fla—55-year-old Edward Daniel Craven of Seabrook, Texas has been located near Hogans Loop. A search was initiated Sunday night for the missing kayaker/birding enthusiast who called 911 stating he was lost somewhere near the Choctawhatchee River.

At 5:52pm Sunday Craven called 911 nearly six hours after putting his kayak in at Bruce Creek Landing. Craven told dispatchers he was in a camouflage kayak wearing a black shirt.

Walton County Sheriff’s Office along with Holmes County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Fish and Wildlife began search efforts that went late into the night to search for Craven, but the efforts were suspended around 1am. He was located at 1:30pm Monday afternoon.

Walton County, Fla— A search is underway for a missing kayaker/birding enthusiast who called 911 Sunday evening.

At 5:52pm 55-year-old Edward Daniel Craven of Seabrook, Texas called 911 and said he was lost after putting his kayak in at Bruce Creek Landing. Craven told dispatchers he was in a camouflage kayak wearing a black shirt.

Walton County Sheriff’s Office along with Holmes County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Fish and Wildlife began search efforts that went late into the night to search for Craven, but the efforts were suspended around 1am.

At 7am this morning WCSO and FWC met at the River Road boat launch south of Ponce de Leon to continue searching. FWC also has a fixed wing aircraft en route to this location.

Craven is described as a white mail, approximately 6’0, weighing 165lbs, with brown/gray hair, and blue eyes. If you have any information on his whereabouts you’re asked to call (850)-892-8111.
