STOLEN VEHICLE RECOVERED IN DEFUNIAK SPRINGS POND

Walton County, Fla—A car is found partially submerged in a pond behind a home in DeFuniak Springs Tuesday afternoon.

At 12:15pm a man discovered the sunken vehicle in a pond behind a home off of Hurricane Road. When first responders arrived Firefighter Matthew Perkins of Liberty Volunteer Fire Department waded in the water to make sure nobody was inside. Walton County Sheriff’s Office assisted Perkins in getting inside the vehicle to clear the inside.

Upon further investigation the vehicle tag was run through local databases and came back as stolen out of the city of DeFuniak Springs on March 24th of this year. A towing company was called in to remove the SUV.

DeFuniak Springs Police Department took possession of the vehicle at the scene and has notified the victim.
