The Walton County School Board (WCSB) met for a special session Jan. 24 to rank and select the top three firms for construction management for new classrooms for Emerald Coast Middle School, as well as personnel recommendations, approval for band instrument bids and the pre-qualification of contractors.
The board quickly approved two contracts on their consent agenda unanimously. The contracts were between the Walton County School District and Kathy Oropallo for Leadership Plan Development and Leadership training and approval of conract for legal services between the Walton County School Board and attorney Ben Holley for an extension of one year commencing on Feb. 8, 2012.
The board then moved onto their action agenda. Personnel recommendations were approved unanimously. Facilities construction with pre-qualifiny contracts, which was a list of seven that met requirements, received unaimous approval of the board. The board then went on to approve band instrument bids to the lowest and most responsive bidder, unanimously.
The board then moved to rank construction companies as follows; Number one – Elkins Constructors, Lord and Son Construction as number two, and two companies, Ajax Building Corporation and LLT Building Corporation tied for third. The board reconsidered and agreed to re-rank the tie as Ajax coming in third and LLT being fourth. The rankings were approved unanimously.
