Florida Highway Patrol are reporting that 58 year old Philip L. Lofe of Destin, Fla., was driving east on CR-282 before noon on May 11, 2016 in a 2010 Chrysler Sebring when his vehicle drifted right and traveled off the roadway and then onto the paved shoulder. His vehicle continued in an easterly direction on the shoulder before striking the Little Alaqua Creek Bridge rail. Upon striking the rail, the vehicle vaulted over the guard rail and landed in the creek below the eastbound side of the bridge. The crash is still under investigation. The report notes Lofe was wearing a seatbelt and his relatives have been notified.
