UPDATE: WCSO MAKES ARREST IN DEFUNIAK SPRINGS HOMICIDE

DeFuniak Springs, Fla— The Walton County Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest Saturday following the murder of a DeFuniak Springs man.William Fountain Jr Mug Shot

William “Billy” Fountain Jr., 50,  has been booked into the Walton County Jail on charges of Premeditated 1st Degree Murder after he stabbed a man inside a DeFuniak Springs home.

Just before midnight Friday night WCSO received a call from a woman claiming her boyfriend, James Drake, had been stabbed during an altercation. Deputies responded to 5530 State Highway 83 North and found Drake with several stab wounds and lacerations and tried to resuscitate him unsuccessfully.

Walton County Sheriff’s Office Investigators were called to the scene and taped off the area. Fountain Jr. was detained at approximately 9:30am and was questioned by Walton County Sheriff’s Office Investigators. He was subsequently arrested.

“Certainty we are saddened at the loss of life, but I am glad our investigators were able to bring a resolution to this situation quickly and hopefully bring some sort of closure to the family of the victim,” said Sheriff Michael Adkinson.
