FREEPORT MIDDLE SCHOOL'S girls basketball team won their conference championship with a 17-9 victory over Emerald Coast on Saturday. Freeport captured the 5-team tournament title that was played in Crestview at Davidson Middle School.

PARENTS AND STUDENTS participated in small groups addressing a variety of math-related applications. Walton Middle School’s families showed their commitment to their children’s education by attending the school’s second Title 1 Parent Training Night of the year. The event, “Making Math Matter,” occurred on Dec. 3 at 6 p.m.

DEFUNIAK SPRINGS MCDONALD’S GENERAL MANAGER ANTONIO PORTUGAL presented a check for $1,000 to Ponce de Leon Elementary School Assistant Principal Tonya McInnis on Wednesday, Dec. 9. The money will go toward paying for the school’s participation in the Accelerated Reader program and other online learning tools. The top readers in grades 1 through 5 were also in attendance at the presentation of the check. Josh Evans, Lillian Sutton, Dylan Baldwin, Noah Hartzog, Samantha Bohannon, Noah Chapman, Sage Galloway, Eli Contreras, Curtis Galloway, Stephanie Strickland, Wyatt Alford, Brianna Archer, and Colby Stapp are pictured.
