The Department announces receipt of an application for a Joint Coastal Permit (File No. 0326932-001-JC and 002-BV), pursuant to Chapter 161 and Part IV of Chapter 373, Florida Statutes, and for authorization to use sovereign submerged lands, pursuant to Chapter 253, Florida Statutes. The applicant is the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the proposed activity is to place approximately 3,756,240 cubic yards of beach compatible material on the beach and dune system within five reaches of Walton County that covers 18.8 miles of shoreline. Placement material will come from an offshore borrow area five miles offshore western Walton County.

 

Copies of the application may be examined during normal working hours at the Department of Environmental Protection, Beaches, Inlets and Ports Program, 2600 Blair Stone Road, Mail Station 3544, Tallahassee, Florida, 32399. The application has also been posted on the Department’s Internet Web site at:

The City of DeFuniak Springs will be accepting sealed bids for the replacement of the halogen lighting system on the City’s Water Tank Tower.  This lighting system is designed to illuminate the tank face text which displays “Historic DeFuniak Springs”.
