PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE

The Walton County Technical Review Committee will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, February 1, 2012, at 8:30 am at the South Walton Courthouse Annex in Santa Rosa Beach, FL  32459.  The following items are scheduled for review and action:

The Walton County Design Review Board will hold a regular public meeting to hear projects beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at the South Walton County Courthouse Annex located at 31 Coastal Centre Boulevard, Santa Rosa Beach, Florida 32459.  The Board will hear the following items:

1.    BODACIOUS CONSIGNMENT & DESIGN – (Project Number 11-001-00038) This is a sign application submitted by A World of Signs, requesting approval for a building sign measuring 36 inches x 163 inches for a total of 40.75 square feet and a monument sign measuring 8.0 feet X 10.0 feet for a total of 80 square feet.  The site is at 13381-A U.S. Highway 98 West (parcel number 29-2S-21-42100-000-0010).

2.    HOLIDAY PLAZA MASTER SIGNAGE PLAN AMENDMENT – (Project Number 12-001-00001) This is a sign application submitted by A World of Signs, requesting approval to amend the Holiday Plaza Master Signage Plan to designate an anchor tenant qualifying for Type II building sign standards.  The site is at 12273 U.S. Highway 98 West (parcel number 29-2S-21-42171-000-00A0).

The Design Review Board will make a recommendation on major developments to the Board of County Commissioners regarding these items either to approve, approve with conditions or to deny.  Any item that is tabled will be scheduled for a future Design Review Board meeting and will not go forward to the Planning Commission until the Design Review Board makes a recommendation.  In matters regarding deviations from the Scenic Corridor guidelines, as adopted in Section 13 of the Walton County Land Development Code, the decision by the Design Review Board are final decisions.  Pursuant to Section 9.06.06 of the Walton County Land Development Code, any decision or determination of the Board which is contested by an applicant with regard to application or interpretation of the standards shall be referred to the Board of Adjustment for appeal hearing.

TO ADOPT A SCHOOL BOARD RULE SETTING FORTH SOCIAL MEDIA POLICIES AND PROCEDURES IN THE WALTON COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT

The School Board of Walton County, Florida, hereby gives notice of its intent to adopt the proposed rule setting forth Social Media policies and procedures governing the pedagogical usage of social media outlets in the Walton County School District, pursuant to the procedures set forth in the Administrative Procedures Act.

PURPOSE AND EFFECT:  The purpose and effect of the adoption of the proposed rule is to set forth the rights and responsibilities of approved users as pertains to the usage of social media outlets.

SUMMARY:    Policies and procedures for the appropriate usage of social media outlets in the Walton County School District will provide a framework for evaluating and maintaining a consistent pedagogical purpose within the schools.
LEGAL  AUTHORITY:  The adoption of the proposed rule is authorized by Sections 1001.41, 1001.42, 1001.43, and 1006.09, Florida Statutes..
ECONOMIC IMPACT:  The adoption of the proposed rule will not result in any additional costs to the School District.

A public hearing will be held by the School Board of Walton County, Florida, at 9:00 o’clock a.m. during the regular board meeting on March 13, 2012, in the Board Room at the Tivoli Administrative Complex, 145 Park Street, DeFuniak Springs, Florida, for the purpose of considering adoption of the proposed rule setting forth Social Media policies and procedures for the pedagogical use of social media.   Any person may appear at the hearing and present evidence and argument and be heard concerning the adoption of the proposed rule.  Immediately following the public hearing, the School Board of Walton County, Florida will consider final action to adopt the proposed rule.

The entire text of the proposed rule is on file and available for inspection during regular office hours at the office of the Superintendent of Schools, Walton County, Florida, which office is located at 145 Park Street, Suite 2, DeFuniak Springs, Florida.  Copies of the proposed rule are available to the public at the Superintendent’s office.

If a person decides to appeal any decision made by the School Board with respect to any matter considered at such meeting or hearing, such person will need a record of the proceedings, and for such purpose, such person may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.
