Pursuant to Section 120.54, Florida Statutes, notice is hereby given that the School Board of Walton County, Florida, intends to revise and amend six existing School Board Rules/Policies dealing with the following subject areas:

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

Notice is hereby given that the City of DeFuniak Springs City Council will conduct a public hearing on Monday, November 23, 2015 at 6:00PM CST (or as soon as the item may be heard) in the City Council Chambers, located at 71 US Highway 90 West, DeFuniak Springs, FL 32435, to consider a variance request as follows:

James Wesley is requesting approval of a variance at 170 North 7th Street in DeFuniak Springs to allow a single family residential dwelling on a lot that does not conform to the minimum requirements of the Zoning Ordinance, specifically: 1) does not meet minimum dimensional requirements of the R-2 zoning district, 2) does not have frontage on a city street, and 3) does not have a paved parking space for single family dwelling. At their regular meeting, held on October 5, 2015, the DeFuniak Springs Planning Board reviewed this request and voted unanimously to forward the request to the City Council, recommending approval.

The DeFuniak Springs City Council will hold a public hearing for the request on November 23, 2015, at 6:00PM CST, in the City Council Chambers. The purpose of the public hearing is to allow for public comment and take action, which may include: 1) grant the variance, 2) deny the variance, or 3) continue the request to a later date. Interested parties are encouraged to appear at the public hearing and be heard with respect to this request.

Prior to the hearing, the proposed application may be inspected by the public during regular office hours at the Planning Department which is located in the DeFuniak Springs City Hall Annex, 35 US Hwy 90 W, DeFuniak Springs, Florida. Questions may also be directed to the Planning Department by calling (850) 892-8571.

In accordance with Section 286.26, Florida Statutes, ‘Accessibility of public meetings to the physically handicapped, whenever any board or commissioner of any state agency or authority, or of any agency or authority of any county, municipal corporation, or other political subdivision that has scheduled a meeting at which official acts are to be taken, receives at least 48 hours prior to the meeting, a written request by a physically handicapped person to attend the meeting, directed to the chairperson or director of such board, commission, agency, or authority, such chairperson or director shall provide a manner by which such person may attend the meeting at its scheduled site or reschedule the meeting to a site which would be accessible to such person.’

In accordance with Section 286.0105, Florida Statutes, ‘Notices of meetings and hearings must advise that a record is required to appeal, all persons are advised that, if a person decides to appeal any decision made by the board, agency, or commission with respect to any matter considered at such meeting or hearing, he or she will need a record of the proceedings, and that, for such purpose, he or she may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.’ Appeals of City Council decisions are heard by the Circuit Court of Walton County.
