DeFuniak Springs, Fla – The Kiwanis of DeFuniak Springs, Fla, in conjunction with the Matrix are collecting new and gently used items to help the families of Louisiana in their time of need. The flooding of Baton Rouge and surrounding areas has left many families homeless and without necessities.

Kiwanis and Matrix are asking the local community to help them to collect clothing, shoes, baby/children’s clothes, toiletries such as toothpaste, soap, shampoo, diapers, toilet paper, and all daily need items, to be delivered to these devastated communities next Wednesday, Aug. 24. Donations, including cash, can be dropped off a the following locations: Thriftway Supermarket located at 515 E. Nelson Ave., DeFuniak Springs; Triangle Chevrolet located at 850 U.S. 331 South, DeFuniak Springs; Rene Youell Law Offices, located at 1250 Circle Drive, DeFuniak Springs; ACE Hardware Store located at 633 E. Nelson Ave., DeFuniak Springs, and Trustmark Bank located at 993 U.S. Highway 331 South, DeFuniak Springs.

In addition to the Kiwanis and Matrix efforts, the Paxton Key Club is collecting toys, stuffed animals and other items for children who have lost their homes in this flood. Those donation can be taken to the Paxton School, or taken to any of the above locations, just make sure to label those for the Paxton Key Club.

All items should be new, or very clean. They are not accepting food, but appreciate all gifts to those whose lives have been disrupted by this terrible flooding.

All items collected will be shipped via the generosity of ACE Hardware of DeFuniak Springs.
