US 331 Corridor Design Standards Ordinance – An Ordinance of the Board of County Commissioners of Walton County, Florida, creating Chapter 16 of the Walton County Land Development Code to add the US 331 Corridor as an Overlay District; defining the limits of the US 331 Corridor; adopting a map of the US 331 Corridor; establishing that the intent of the Corridor Design Standards shall be to manage and promote economic development along Walton County’s Central Transportation Corridor being widened to four lanes, to preserve and maximize property values along the US 331 Corridor, to enhance the visual characteristics of the east and west sides of the US 331 Corridor, and to eliminate roadside clutter; establishing minimum Development Design Standards for permitted uses and structures, prohibited uses and structures, setbacks, landscaping standards, limited outside display of merchandise, driveway/access/parking standards, sign control, and right-of-way improvements; providing for severability; and providing for an effective date.

The Planning Commission will make a recommendation to the Board of County Commissioners regarding these items either to approve, approve with conditions or to deny.  Any agenda item that is tabled will be scheduled for a future Planning Commission meeting and will not go forward to the Board of County Commissioners until the Planning Commission makes a recommendation.

REQUEST FOR BIDS

The City of DeFuniak Springs is requesting bids for the purchase of salvage rights for a 960 sq. ft., 3 bedrooms & 1 bathroom, house/materials (to include removal of entire structure) located at 896 Gene Hurley Road, DeFuniak Springs, FL 32435.  All bids must include offer for purchase of salvage rights and estimated completion date, if awarded bid. Bidder will be responsible for obtaining all permits and licensing to complete the project.

The city will accept bids until April 24, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. CST.  The bids will be opened in the Council Chambers on the above date and time and read aloud.  The bids shall be marked on the outside of the envelope “Sealed Bid – Salvage Rights and Structure Removal.”  Sealed bids will be received at 71 US Hwy 90 W., DeFuniak Springs, FL 32433 or P.O. Box 685, DeFuniak Springs, FL 32435.  Any bids received after 2:00 p.m. on the above date will not be accepted and will be returned unopened to the bidder.  The City Council will award the bid at its regularly scheduled Council meeting on May 12, 2014.

The Argyle Fire District will hold a second reading and first public hearing on Monday, April 28, 2014  at 7:00p.m. or as soon thereafter as may be heard at the Argyle Fire District, 67 Fire Dept. Ave.   Argyle, FL 32422. The following items will be heard:

RESOLUTION  NO.  2014-0001

A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF  THE ARGYLE FIRE DISTRICT IN WALTON COUNTY, FLORIDA REQUESTING THE SUPERVISOR OF  ELECTIONS OF WALTON COUNTY, FLORIDA TO PLACE THE REFERENDUM, MORE FULLY DESCRIBED BELOW, ON THE BALLOT FOR THE GENERAL PRIMARY ELECTION ON AUGUST 26, 2014, TO ALLOW QUALIFIED VOTERS TO VOTE ON AN INCREASE IN THE ANNUAL NON-AD VALOREM SPECIAL ASSESSMENT LEVIED BY THE   FIRE   DISTRICT   ON    RESIDENCES    AND   BUSINESSES

In accordance with Section 286.26, Florida Statutes, whenever any board or commissioner of any state  agency or authority, or of any agency or authority of any county, municipal corporation, or other political  subdivision, which has scheduled a meeting at which official acts are to be taken receives, at least 48  hours prior to the meeting, a written request by a physically handicapped person to attend the meeting,  directed to the chairperson or director of such board, commission, agency, or authority, such chairperson  or director shall provide a manner by which such person may attend the meeting at its scheduled site or  reschedule the meeting to a site which would be accessible to such person.

In accordance with Section 286.0105, Florida Statutes, all persons are advised that, if a person decides to  appeal any decision made by the board, agency, or commission with respect to any matter considered at  such meeting or hearing, he or she will need a record of the proceedings, and that, for such purpose, he or  she may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.
