There were five items on the agenda at the opening of the Walton County Planning Commission meeting of Jan. 9, but as the first order of business, the item covering a Stonegate-LSA large sacale amendment application was continued to the meeting of March 13; the item addressing the Laurence Grodd-Abandonment application was continued to the meeting of Feb. 13 as was the City Produce application for a major development order.
Discussion turned to a Walton County Comprehensive Plan Mixed Use Acreage Criteria Ordinance proposal. Under this proposal, which is still under review, the acreage criteria for providing mixed uses in a number of zoning types would be revised and the types of uses would be clarified. The affected zone types are: Small Neighborhood (SN); Traditional Neighborhood Development (TND); Coastal Center (CC) and Coastal Center Mixed Use (CCMU). The staff is to bring a map and more data for review at the next meeting.
A discussion of a proposed Land Development Code Land Uses Ordiinance followed. This ordinance would provide new land use districts including: General Commercial (GC); Industrial (ID); Black Creek Neighborhood Planning Area (BC/NPA); Neighborhood Commercial (NC); Low Density Residential (LDR); Development of Regional Impact – Mixed Use (DRI/MU); Extractive Uses (EU); The second Town Center (TC2); and Resort (R). Land use districts to be deleted would include: Commercial (CM); Industrial (I); Private Conservation (PC); and Medium Industrial (MI).
