NEW DISPLAY: The Walton County Heritage Museum has a new display for January 2016 - the Krewe De Yak display. Grasfest 2016 will take place Jan. 23, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The museum is located at 1140 Circle Drive, DeFuniak Springs, and is open Tues - Sat, from 1 - 4 p.m.

THE OLD HIDE-A-WHILE CAMPGROUND and lodge was inundated by last week's flood. The campground has been closed for some time but this is a good example of the extent of the flooding. As of Tuesday, Jan 5, the river was slowly receding. (Photo by Jeffrey Powell)

HEAVY RAIN in Alabama and Georgia over the past few weeks has caused the Choctawhatchee River to leave its banks. The waterway crested on Saturday, Jan 2, at approximately 19.2 feet. The flooding caused many residents along the river in the Cowford area to leave their homes or commute by boat. (Photo by Jeffrey Powell)

SEAGROVE GARDEN CLUB raised $7,300 at its Dec. 9 Christmas Auction. With these funds their Christmas Charity Committee was able to purchase $7,300 in gift cards which were presented to 23 local individuals and families including 53 children. (Photo from Seagrove Garden Club)
